Golfers left stunned by 3 metre gator
PLAYING golf in Florida means dealing with more hazards than just the bunker and waterhole — sometimes, it’s what is lurking in that waterhole that is the real concern.
Golfer Bill Pruitt found that out this past weekend when his play was disrupted by a huge three metre-long alligator who casually sauntered onto the fairway.
Mr Pruitt posted a video of the animal on Facebook which has since gone viral. In it, the alligator can be seen stalking two sandhill cranes on the course near Orlando while golfers look on.
Judging by his Facebook page, Mr Pruitt seems to be pretty happy about the 15 minutes of fame the video has brought him.
Speaking to the Tampa Bay Times, he said preparing to chip his ball onto the green when his partner shouted: “Look at this.”
You can hear Pruitt exclaim “holy cow!” on the video but neither men seemed to be overly concerned by the creature’s presence.
But they were impressed by its size.
“It frightened me,” Pruitt admitted to the paper. “It was at least 10 feet. I’m 6-2, and he was twice the size of me.”
