Samsung initially dismissed the complaints, saying the red-tint could be cleared manually by adjusting Display Settings. But following an increased pressure from all corners, Samsung was prompted to roll out a patch. Samsung has started rolling out the update to users in India too. This means, the moment the user begins using his device, the update can be downloaded. The update comes with the build number XXU1AQDG and is available for both Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
The display provides two options to users – ‘Full Screen Colour Balance’ in the Adaptive Display screen menu and ‘Screen Edge Colour Balance’ in Screen Mode menu. Initially, multiple critics and reviewers blamed the red tint of the device on hardware issues though Samsung repeatedly insisted that the issue was a basic one and nothing to worry about. With the patch update rolling out, most users are satisfied with the new resolution.
The Galaxy S8 series is extremely crucial for Samsung as the company is still reeling from the Galaxy Note 7 disaster. The devices are under the scanner and one wrong step could spell doom for Samsung. Despite stringent tests and the delayed launch, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are not free of bugs. Apart from the red tint issue, users have also complained that the displays are prone to cracks and scratches. Wi-Fi issues and Facial Recognition feature being buggy are some of the other issues that Galaxy S8 and S8+ users are complaining about. A minor number of Galaxy S8 users in the US are also complaining of random reboots.
Despite all the problems, Samsung Galaxy S8 series devices continue to be among the top flagship smartphones of the year with sales numbers being strong.
