Former India captain and current Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) member, Diana Edulji was not surprised to watch left-arm spinner Ekta Bisht claim five wickets to help India beat Pakistan by 95 runs in a low-scoring Women's World Cup game at Derby, England yesterday.

"Ekta loves bowling against Pakistan. She had a five-wicket haul against them in the qualifier as well in Colombo and she repeated it here. She is a wicket-taking bowler, not a defensive bowler, who loves trying different angles and variety. She is a very intelligent bowler and India are lucky to have her," said Edulji.

'It was a little scary'
Edulji also hailed the Indian team's sizzling performance against Pakistan. "It was a very good victory; was a little scary at the beginning when we were not getting runs on the board and with the top order not clicking.

"But a nice cameo by Sushma Verma (33 off 35 balls) towards the end gave us a decent total (169 for 9 in 50 overs). This win is a good confidence-booster," Edulji told mid-day last night. "I like the way Mansi bowls. It was her first game in the World Cup and I think with experience she will become a better bowler.

'Knew we'd do it'
"Once we got the breakthrough in the beginning, I knew we would be able to bundle them out because they (Pakistan) are not very good chasers. I was quite confident that we would be able to defend our total because the quality of our spinners is far superior," she said.
