I'm open to bat in any position for India: Mumbai cricketer Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer, 22, has come close several times on making his international debut, but has missed out on the chances to be in the playing XI of the Indian team. On the eve of the first T20 International between India and New Zealand, the Mumbai opener was hopeful of getting a chance in the series. "I am hoping that if I am selected (in the squad) then I will play as well. We have three matches and if I play even one then it is a good feeling," Iyer said.

Later in the nets, Iyer got hit on his right forearm while batting and stopped practice. At the time of filing this report (8pm) there was no official update from the BCCI or the team management on Iyer's status. Even if the opener is fit to play, the team management will have a hard time deciding his batting slot as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been the in-form openers in limited-overs cricket. Iyer, though said that he has no problem playing at any position. "I am very flexible and I don't mind batting at any number," he stated.
