Harris Shield Preview: School kids set for big test
The cold weather in Mumbai has set in, but for young cricketers, the heat is on as players from the best school teams will lock horns in another edition of the prestigious Harris Shield tournament that begins today. The tournament, in its 121st year, will see the introduction of India icon Sachin Tendulkar's 14-players-a-side concept throughout the contest.

In another change, the tournament will not have any Plate Group matches. "We have removed the Plate Group matches due to unavailability of grounds," Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Cricket secretary Nadim Memon said. Defending champions Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) coach Raju Pathak is confident his side can defend the tile this year even though the tournament begins with the knockout rounds where the best teams could get eliminated. Rizvi will face Shardashram Vidyamandir (English) tomorrow.
