The health condition of dengue-affected Snehasish Ganguly, the elder brother of former Indian cricket team captain and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly, remained "a matter of concern" today after his platelet count plummeted to 20,000. The normal platelet count for a healthy adult is 1.5-4.5 lakh per microlitre of blood. Describing the former Bengal Ranji cricketer's health condition as "stable", a senior official of a city hospital told PTI, "His temperature was recorded at around 99 degrees (Fahrenheit) and he did not complain of any body ache. But his condition is a matter of concern for us."

Snehasish was admitted to a private hospital here on Wednesday after he tested positive for dengue. "The platelet count of Snehasish Ganguly has reduced to 20,000 this evening. We are monitoring his health condition and trying to give him the requisite medicine to arrest the fall of platelet count," the official said. Virologist Amitabha Nandy, who is treating Snehasish, said, "He has a mild fever. His liver has also been affected and he has developed ascites. But all these are normal clinical conditions in dengue cases. There is nothing to worry about the patient."
