After a big gap of around 8 years, Air India restarted continuous voyages between the cities of Amritsar and Birmingham on Feb 20. The news turned out to be the reason for gala time for a lot of people and celebrate it.
Travellers going to India from Britain were heading for a musical surprise: moments before departure, a distinctive dhol act to send the travelers off in grace.
Videos circulating all over the net showcased pleased passengers cheering and applauding as thrilled dhol players drum up a storm.
“The terminal came alive (on Tuesday) with Indian drummers and dancers weaving their way through passengers who were joined by Members of Parliament, business leaders and members of the Sikh UK community,” stated representatives from Birmingham Airport in a report to the presspersons.
The footage was also posted on Facebook by Dhol Blasters, the talented musicians who put on the dazzling performance.
Since being posted on the most popular social networking site Facebook on Wednesday, the video recording has been seen more than 13,000 times and shared 190 times.
The special preview has collected more than 350 reactions.
“Now that’s my kind of in-flight entertainment,” comments one person on the video. “Absolutely brilliant! l was dancing while watching it,” comments another. “Wonderful uncle ji! Bet the passengers wanted to take you all the way with them,” jokes a third.

Air India will run flights between Birmingham and Amritsar two times a week on Tuesday and Thursday with a Boeing 787 aircraft.
As per an Air India official, the airline is the only one to offer straight flights between Punjab and the United Kingdom.
