Xiaomi Poco F1 update improves camera processing and adds AOSP navigation buttons

The Xiaomi Poco F1 is the first flagship smartphone from Poco, a recently launched sub-brand of Xiaomi. Poco has stated that they want to support the developer community, which is why so much scrutiny was placed on them when users discovered a 2 month waiting period to unlock the bootloader. Fortunately, Poco quickly responded to the complaints and lowered the waiting period to 3 days. Besides easy access to modding, Android enthusiasts also love frequent updates. Although the device has only been out for a few days, an update for the Xiaomi Poco F1 is rolling out with improved camera processing and the addition of AOSP navigation buttons. You can check out the changelog below, along with comparison images of the old navigation buttons versus the new ones.

As for the camera improvements, they’re always welcome. While we don’t have photos yet for a hands-on comparison, we can probably take Xiaomi at their word when they say that they’ve improved processing. The company did open up a dedicated camera division earlier this year, after all.

Other changes include a number of system bug fixes and an optimization for the recording application. The update is being sent out to devices in the form of a staged rollout, so it may take some time before you get the update on your Xiaomi Poco F1. Either way, it’s great to see an enthusiast device such as the Poco F1 getting changes that the target audience likes, such as the introduction of AOSP navigation buttons. It’s a small tweak, but it’s great for those who may be coming from other phones with more a stock Android-like interface.
