On Feb 28, a large number of pupils as well as teachers of Delhi’s high-status Jesus and Mary College started protesting outside Delhi Police Headquarters.
The students and their tutors staged protests a day after balloons, which had semen in them, were supposedly thrown at a few female pupils of the Lady Shri Ram College and other Delhi University affiliated colleges.
Holding tags and boards, the campaigners has demanded the authorities to give proper safety to female pupils in and outside their educational institutions.
”Let’s prevent them (female students) from becoming the target of semen-filled balloons. Let’s raise our voice in anger,” the placards read.
Today’s protest was called after a few pupils of Lady Shri Ram College claimed that they have been harassed by some troublemakers. They have thrown semen-filled balloons at the female students, in place of water and colors in the name of the festival of Holi.
As per BA history pupil of Jesus and Mary College (JMC), who turn out to be the latest victim of this horrible situation, stated, “Till yesterday, I had just heard about semen throwing at girls and my heart was broken to hear it. Today I was the victim to it and that was when I wholly realized and understood the absolute depravity of human beings. I would have said humans behave like animals but then that’s a disgrace to animals in itself.”
Some days before, a pupil of Lady Shri Ram College had shared her shocking experience on her Insta handle post. She also became victim of a semen-filled balloon disaster.
On her personal handle, she penned that within a few minutes of hiring a rickshaw from Amar Colony, a semen filled balloon hit her back.
“It burst open, its content seeping into my dress. It dried white on my black leggings, and the foreign smell clearly indicated that it wasn’t water,” she said, adding that she did not know what it was until a friend told her “semen-flinging…was currently the Holi fad in the back market area”.
“Not a single person in that busy market batted a single eyelid at the sight of men throwing such balloons,” she added.
